Office Workstations
Modular Office Workstations for Modern Workplaces
ASTRAA plans workstation solutions around team size, available space, workflow, ergonomics, storage and technology requirements — helping offices use floor area effectively without compromising everyday usability.
Workplace Planning
A Workstation Is More Than a Desk
How workstations are planned affects space efficiency, ergonomics, circulation, employee privacy, cable and power routing, storage and how easily the office can change later. Treating them as a system rather than a row of desks is what makes the difference.
Space Efficiency
Dimensions, orientation and clustering decide how much of the floor plate becomes usable, comfortable workspace.
Ergonomics
Work-surface depth, reach, screen position and chair clearance are planned around the people using them all day.
Technology Integration
Power, data and cable routing are designed in from the start rather than added on afterwards.
Future Flexibility
Modular systems allow teams to grow, reshuffle or relocate without replacing the furniture.
Workstation Types
Configurations for Different Teams and Workstyles
Most offices combine two or three of these. The right mix depends on how teams actually work, not on a single standard layout.
Linear Workstations
Desks in a straight run along a wall or spine. Simple to plan and expand, and well suited to rows of similar roles.
Back-to-Back Workstations
Two rows facing each other across a shared spine that carries power and data. Dense, economical and easy to service.
Cluster Workstations
Groups of four or six arranged around a central point. Supports teams that talk to each other while keeping individual space defined.
Bench Workstations
A continuous shared surface with light or no dividers. Open, flexible and quick to reconfigure for collaborative or hot-desk settings.
Manager Workstations
Larger single positions with more surface, storage and privacy, for team leads who need space for reviews and short meetings.
L-Shaped Workstations
A return surface at right angles to the main desk, giving extra working depth for dual screens, reference material or a visitor position.

Space + Capacity
Planning Workstations Around the Floor Plate
The maximum number of desks that physically fit is not necessarily the correct number of workstations for a functional office. Capacity has to be balanced against how people move, sit, talk and store things.
- Team size and how it is expected to change
- Workstation orientation and sight lines
- Aisle and circulation planning
- Department zoning and adjacencies
- Chair movement and access behind seats
- Privacy between neighbouring positions
- Storage at the desk and nearby
- Room to expand without a rebuild
Privacy Options
Balancing Collaboration and Focus
Screens and dividers set how open or enclosed each position feels. Height, material and placement are chosen by role and by how much visual and acoustic separation the team actually needs.
Fabric Screens
Laminated Dividers
Acrylic & Glass Elements
Low Screens
Higher Privacy Screens
Acoustic Considerations
Screen materials can soften sound between positions. Acoustic performance depends on the whole room and is not quoted as a tested rating.
Technology Integration
Keeping Power and Data Organised
Every workstation needs power and network access, and every cable needs a route that stays tidy after the first reshuffle. This is planned with the layout, not after it.
- Cable trays under the work surface
- Wire managers along legs and spines
- Desk-level access points
- Power modules at the surface
- Data routing between positions
- Maintenance access without moving desks

Storage
Storage That Works with the Workstation
Storage is selected according to role, how often it is accessed, what needs to be secured and how much floor and desk space is available.
Mobile Pedestals
Lockable units on castors that tuck under the desk and move with the person.
Fixed Pedestals
Built into the workstation for a cleaner line and a fixed storage allocation.
Drawer Units
Shallow and deep drawers for stationery, files and personal items.
Side Storage
Low cabinets alongside or between positions that also act as a divider.
Overhead Storage
Raised units above the surface where floor space is limited.
Shared Team Storage
Central cabinets and lockers for material a whole team uses.
Material Options
Built Around Practical Material Choices
Materials are chosen for daily commercial use: surfaces that clean easily, edges that take knocks, frames that stay rigid and hardware that keeps working. Specifications are confirmed per project.
- Panel materials for work surfaces and gables
- Laminates in a range of finishes and textures
- Edge finishes that protect the surface
- Metal frames and understructures
- Modesty panels
- Dividers and screens
- Drawer runners, locks and other hardware
Custom Requirements
Workstations Adapted to Project Requirements
Standard modules cover most needs. Where a floor plate, team or brand calls for something different, the system is adapted along six dimensions.

Manufacturing-Led Future
Preparing for Greater In-House Production Control
ASTRAA’s new furniture manufacturing facility is currently under commissioning. Once operations commence, it is intended to support workstation production, customised furniture, bulk project requirements and contract manufacturing.
Manufacturing operations are currently under commissioning.
Integrated Workplace
Plan Furniture Before the Interior Is Finished
Where workstations sit decides where several other things have to go. Fixing the layout early avoids moving services after the ceiling and floor are closed.
- Electrical points and floor boxes
- Lighting positions over work surfaces
- Flooring and cable access
- Partition locations and glazing
- Circulation routes and escape paths
- HVAC and services above the workstations

Questions
Office Workstation FAQs
What types of office workstations are available?
Linear, back-to-back, cluster, bench, manager and L-shaped configurations, each with options for screens, storage and cable management. Most offices use a combination.
What is a modular office workstation?
A workstation built from standard, repeatable components — surfaces, frames, screens, storage — that can be combined, added to or rearranged as the team changes, rather than a one-off fixed desk.
How do you choose the right workstation configuration?
By looking at team size, how people work together, the shape of the floor plate, circulation, privacy needs and storage. The layout is planned first; the configuration follows from it.
Can workstation sizes and finishes be customised?
Yes. Surface size, configuration, laminate finish, screen type, storage and cable management can be adapted to the project. Exact specifications are confirmed for each requirement.
Can power and cable management be integrated?
Yes. Cable trays, wire managers, desk-level access points and power modules are planned into the workstation so power and data stay organised and serviceable.
Can storage be incorporated into workstations?
Yes. Mobile or fixed pedestals, drawer units, side storage, overhead units and shared team storage can be built into the layout according to role and available space.
Can ASTRAA supply workstations as part of a turnkey office project?
Yes. Workstations can be planned within a turnkey office interior scope alongside design, interior works and execution, which keeps furniture and services coordinated.
Do you provide office workstation solutions across Bangalore?
